Björk’s New Box Set Will Come With The 14 Bird Call Flutes You Have Been So Badly Craving

In truly inspired news, Björk has unveiled the Utopia Bird Call Boxset, comprised of the 2017 album, unreleased instrumental music and 14 handcrafted birdcall flutes. I think Björk may have just out-Björk’d herself with this one.

The flutes are made by French company Quelle est Belle, and each will come with instructions and information outlining the respective birdcall.

She explained the reasoning behind the box set via Instagram:

“utopia is so much about birdsong and sonically the mutation between synth/bird , bird/flute , flute/synth ……. air like that was a theme through all of the album . so i got very excited when i found these handmade wooden flutes imitating precisely particular birds . and i guess wanted you guys to have an opportunity to share that with me …….. enjoy !!!”

And you can enjoy this wondrous box set… if you have roughly $900 on hand. Yep, the Utopia Bird Call Boxset, which will be released November 1, is being priced at a hefty £500. When did chatting to birds become so expensive?

This box set is cute and all, but I can make a bird whistle with my hands for free. Just saying.

For all of you birdcall aficionados out there, and I know you’re out there in abundance, the flutes imitate the redshank common sandpiper, nuthatch, pheasant, goldfinch, black headed gull, robin, blackbird, chaffinch, long eared owl, great tit, lapwing, starling, blue tit and redstart birds. I know absolutely none of these and I’m okay with that.

Either way, if these Björk birdcalls don’t attract them birds faster than Snow White, I’ll be suing. Check the set out on her site.
