Birds of Tokyo Headline Priceless Music Series On Cocaktoo Island

After hosting Pendulum, Katy Perry and Good Charlotte last year (finally solving the question what do Pendulum, Katy Perry and Good Charlotte have in common?), this year’s Debit MasterCard Priceless Music Series looks West, enlisting Perth quartet Birds Of Tokyo for a special performance at Sydney’s Cockatoo Island. We appreciate the bird-themed synergy here, mostly for the terrible puns we’ll abstain from making. Not! We have to dip that beak a little bit right? Right. Wing flapping goes down Friday the 27th of May with tickets at 40 bones apiece (inclusive of return ferry fare). They’re super limited so make sure you head to mastercard.com.au/music from 9am (AEDST) Wednesday 4 May and purchase your ticket with a Debit MasterCard only (to get hold of a Debit MasterCard contact Commonwealth Bank, Westpac, Bankwest or Bendigo Bank and apply for access to future Priceless Music experiences).

Sounds awesome but how priceless are we talking here? The venue was a former reform school and the site of Australia’s inaugural All Tomorrow’s Parties curated by Nick Cave. This basically means it’s good enough for anybody. The band are pretty priceless too. After forming in 2004 Birds Of Tokyo broke out last year with their self-titled third studio album, which, if you live in Australia and own a radio, you would have heard snippets of FOR SURE. It nabbed six ARIA nominations eventually winning the award for Best Rock Album and also spawned three Hottest 100 inclusions – “The Saddest Thing I Know”, “Wild At Heart” and “Plans” – the latter of which claimed fourth. Fourth!

Fret not if you’re high on fandom but low on funds because Pedestrian are giving away five double passes to five Debit MasterCard holders (tickets don’t include flights to Sydney). To win, describe your most priceless moment of 2011 in the comments below. Should be a squawk.
