Big Day Out Finally Reveals Blur’s Replacement Acts

Last week Big Day Out organisers promised to reveal the replacement acts for Blur on the festival’s 2014 slate, following the Britpop headliner’s last minute exit from the lineup because of “the constantly shifting goalposts and challenging conditions of the organisers”. The Big Day Out’s newly minted employee, Australian music festival svengali AJ Maddah, couldn’t make good on the promise due to an uninteresting formality (a band was unable to sign the contract because they were apparently holed up in a Thanksgiving-related turkey coma) but did reveal that Blur would be replaced by three acts – “two US and one UK band” – and we’ve finally been made privy to their identities..

Beady Eye, The Hives and Deftones will all be replacing Blur in the headlining spots at this year’s Big Day Out, the dates for which are as follows:

BIG DAY OUT 2014 DATES
Sunday 19 January – Metricon Stadium & Carrara Parklands, Gold Coast

Friday 24 January – Flemington Racecourse, Melbourne

Sunday 26 January – Sydney Showgrounds

Friday 31 January – Bonython Park, Adelaide

Sunday 2 February – Claremont Showgrounds,

It should be noted that any ticket holders who are unsatisfied with the changes made to the lineup can apply for an immediate refund between now and January 6th, 2014, by following the instructions detailed at www.bigdayout.com.
