Ariel Pink’s Super Psychedelic Video Demo

‘Chillwave’ is just the emperors new music genre-name invented by bloggers to describe the recent wave (sorry) of artists making tunes that are a hybrid of lo-fi/indie/electronic/vintage-synth. The word has quite literally become a punchline, but it’s probably the best way to describe the music of Ariel Pink – whose tunes have been on high-rotation in the Pedestrian office lately.

Ariel Pink (real name Ariel Rosenberg) has been around since 2004 – so he’s not exactly the new kid on the block, but for anyone who hasn’t heard him here’s the perfect introduction: a nine minute visual collage – possibly inspired by someone’s acid flashback) with ballerinas, satellites in space, vibrating deer, cubist paintings, bubbles, etc, and gives you a taste of the psychedelic-disco-freakfolk-synth tunes from his forthcoming album entitled Before Today.

Devendra Banhart x Frank Zappa x The Cure x Boz Scaggs x Depeche Mode x Animal Collective, maybe?
