2010 SMAC Award Winners

A few sore heads at Pedestrian HQ today thanks to our erudite friends at FBi Radio who hosted their third annual SMAC Awards last night at Darlinghurst’s National Art School. Hosted by The Chaser’s affable man about town Chris Taylor, SMAC again proved why the best in music, art and culture need not be the biggest, recognizing a handful of Pedestrian favourites including Beastman who took home Best Artist, Greedy Hen who took home the inaugural Best On Screen award and philanthropic club kings/queens Heaps Decent who won the Pedestrian presented gong for Best Collective.

Elsewhere Guineafowl’s ‘In Our Circles‘ took home Best Sydney Song, Cloud Control nabbed two gongs for Best Live Act and Record Of The Year and contrary to the award’s parochial slant, Melbourne product Laneway was crowned Best Festival. The big winners of the night though were Hana Shimada and Jimmy Sing of Sydney small club GOODGOD who took out the coveted SMAC Of The Year for their contribution to Sydney nightlife which really, is an award for enhancing Sydney’s vibe and we only have mountains of gratitude for that.
