SADDLE UP: Rockstar Unveils 7 Locations From ‘Red Dead Redemption 2’

red dead redemption 2

Rockstar Games revealed a bunch of locations which will feature in its incredibly hyped upcoming title, Red Dead Redemption 2, today, and I gotta tell ya, they’re looking mighty fine. Along with some postcard-style images and in-game screenshots, the company details each location and what players can expect from them.

Let’s tuck into the tasty info, shall we?

Valentine

“A raucous, rough-and-tumble town in the Heartlands, Valentine’s livestock auctions attract traders, ranchers, cowboys, gamblers, outlaws and prostitutes from far and wide, all looking to make some money, raise some hell, and have a good time,” Rockstar wrote in a blog post. Sounds like a great place beat up some jerks for whatever reason.

Annesburg

“Life isn’t easy for the miners and their families in Annesburg, which has been providing coal up and down the Lannahechee River for almost a century. Working conditions are terrible for little pay, and many men have lost their lives down the pit.”

By the looks of the screenies, you’ll be having a lot of gunfights here.

Saint Denis

“A key gateway into North America with a trade route that runs the length of the country, the bustling city of Saint Denis is a melting pot of cultures and people where businessmen, socialites, sailors, labourers, beggars and thieves all live side by side.”

If anything, that description makes Saint Denis sound like a fairly central hub in RDR2, but also the perfect place to get into a bar fight.

Mount Hagen

“One of the more well-known peaks in the snowy Grizzlies of Ambarino, Mount Hagen towers above Lake Isabella to the west and Beartooth Beck to the east, which provides the main pass through the western mountain range and joins up with the Dakota River further south.”

The thing about this description is it doesn’t really get me excited about the mountain, it’s more how naming the places around it give the world an enmormous sense of scale. It’s going to be freaking huge.

Rhodes

“Prim and proper on the surface, tensions and corruption run deep in the Southern town of Rhodes, which for years has been caught in the crossfire between the Braithwaites and the Grays, two warring plantation families.”

Check out the blokes in the second image below and tell me you don’t wanna knock the mustache clean off old mate’s face. I’m stingin’ for it.

Strawberry

“Strawberry was little more than a small logging town until the arrival of its new mayor, an East Coast eccentric, who is obsessed with transforming it into a cultural beacon for wealthy tourists, much to the bemusement of the locals.”

Sounds as sweet as the delicious fruit it’s named after, no?

Lagras

“A small, remote settlement out in the swamps of Bayou Nwa, Lemoyne, the people of Lagras live self-sufficiently for the most part, making a little money here and there from fishing and acting as guides for travelers wishing to navigate the region.”

Looks, uh, moist. Can’t wait to strangle some aligators with my bare digital hands.

Goddamn, this is going to be one helluva ride, folks. Red Dead Redemption 2 will hit PS4 and Xbox One consoles on the 26th of October.
