Since it was first showed off behind closed doors at E3, the general consensus on CD Projekt Red‘s upcoming RPG, Cyberpunk 2077, has been extremely positive. Those lucky enough to see the gameplay footage for themselves were treated to almost an hour’s worth of video, and now that it’s been made public, you can see it for yourself.
While many surmised that the game is still a long way off any kind of release – and it probably still is – CD Projekt Red recently told Engadget that it’s now playable from start to finish, making it a little further along than previously thought. The team also say they’re targeting current-gen hardware, but recent estimates put its release at some point before the end of 2020.
In other words, don’t expect it anytime soon because as creator Mike Pondsmith says, “perfection takes time”. Judging by what we’ve been shown so far, it’s going to be well worth the wait, folks. See for yourself below. Just a heads up, there’s a little bit of nudity in there, which, as I found out, can make your public transport commute a tad awkward.
Impressive, no? I could practically feel the money being jerked from my wallet at the first glimpse of Night City‘s dense bustling streets. You can even jump in a car and drive around like a GTA set in the future. The freedom you’ll have in this game, at least from what I can tell, is unlike anything else out there. If CDPR can pull off what they’re promising, it’ll be an unbelievable game.
It’s also worth remembering that the footage shown is still very early and certain things may change over the course of development. I, for one, can’t wait to see more of what Cyberpunk 2077 has to offer.
