‘Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4’ Made An Insane $703 Million In Three Days

The Call of Duty series has always been a pretty big money maker for Activision, but its latest release, Black Ops 4, has really raked in the cash dollars. To be specific, it earned a whopping $US500 million ($703 million) in its first three days, the company has revealed.

To put that into perspective, Call of Duty: WWII hit $US1 billion in sales, but only after it was out for 47 days. It’s definitely impressive, but it’s nothing on Grand Theft Auto V, which remains the fastest and best-selling gaming title, raking in $US1 billion in its first three days.

Black Ops 4 has also set records for having the most combined players, average hours per player, and total number of hours played for the franchise in this console generation.

Unlike previous games in the series, Black Ops 4 is completely online, ditching the traditional single-player campaign for the first time. Its battle royale mode, Blackout, is scoring particularly well with fans, combining the best aspects from popular titles PlayerUnkown’s Battlegrounds and Fortnite in a fresh and exciting way.

Now in its 15th year, the Call of Duty franchise started out as a WWII shooter, famous for throwing the player into large-scale battles where you assumed the role of a regular soldier. From there, it’s visited modern warfare, as well as futuristic battlefields.

Black Ops 4 is available now on PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
