Simmons, who you might just recognise from such titles including Whiplash (for which he won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor), Law & Order, Justice League, Spider-Man, and Counterpart, will star as ex-con Clyde Prickett.

Per DeadlineClyde was in jail for a solid ten years and spent a portion of that time protecting Richard “Big Dick” Casablancas – the father of Dick and Cassidy Casablancas.

A smart bloke, Clyde now spends his post-prison life working as Big Dick’s fixer… whatever that means. He’s also got a whole network of ex-cons at his disposal.

Simmons joins fellow new recruits including Patton Oswalt and Dawnn Lewis.

You can expect to see OG cast members Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars), Jason Dohring (Logan Echolls), Percy Daggs III (Wallace Fennel), Enrico Colantoni (Keith Mars), Francis Capra (Eli Navarro), Ryan Hansen (Dick Casablancas), Max Greenfield (Leo D’Amato), and Daran Norris (Cliff McCormack).

Just yesterday, showrunner Rob Thomas shared a piccie of the cast’s first table read.

As Thomas shared in his caption, the photo is “some indication of who is in episode 1.” Although, “it doesn’t mean your fave doesn’t come in later.”

The revived series will have eight glorious episodes and will be available on streaming service Hulu. An official release date has not been announced just yet but we do have a fab synopsis to fill the void.

Spring breakers are getting murdered in Neptune, thereby decimating the seaside town’s lifeblood tourist industry. After Mars Investigations is hired by the parents of one of the victims to find their son’s killer, Veronica is drawn into an epic eight-episode mystery that pits the enclave’s wealthy elites, who would rather put an end to the month-long bacchanalia, against a working class that relies on the cash influx that comes with being the West Coast’s answer to Daytona Beach.

It’s all happening, folks.

In the meantime, you can catch Simmons as the campaign manager to Hugh Jackman‘s Gary Hart in The Front Runner.
