Tim Allen Couldn’t Get Through The “Emotional” Last Scene Of ‘Toy Story 4’

If you thought that Pixar had perfected the art of messing with our collective emotions at the end of Toy Story 3, then apparently you’ve got another thing coming, as Tim Allen, one of the stars of the series, has revealed that he struggled to make it through filming of the next instalment.

The actor, who plays Buzz Lightyear in the films, recently appeared on US show The Talk to discuss the upcoming Toy Story 4, and while he didn’t get too specific on any plot details, it seems like there is going to be a fair amount of crying involved. He told the hosts:

“It is so emotional, it’s so funny, it’s so big the idea of what they’ve come up with. I’m startled. [Toy Story 3] was, I thought, amazing. This, I couldn’t even get through the last scene. A couple of the scenes toward the end were really hard to get through.”

Per the official plot synopsis, the plot of the movie involves Woody and Buzz embarking on a quest to find Woody’s romantic interest, Bo Peep.

Allen had nothing much to say about that, but he did hint that the film might end up being similar to the recent Marvel team-up Avengers: Infinity War.

“I’m a big superhero fan,” the actor said. “That [structure] didn’t seem like it was going to work, and it was a lot of vignettes that all made sense.”

Amongst others, Toy Story 4 stars Tim Allen, Tom HanksPatricia ArquetteAnnie PottsJoan Cusack, Kristen SchaalLaurie MetcalfJeff Garlin and Bonnie Hunt.

The film opens in June of 2019, so that’s a good nine months to prepare yourself for total emotional destruction, I guess.
