McDreamy Returns To The Small Screen In ‘The Truth About Harry Quebert Affair’

We can’t explain it but us humans bloody love a good murder mystery. It’s sick, it’s morbid and it’s more than likely to cost you a few hours of sleep a night, but when a murder film, series or podcast is presented to us, we dive in headfirst and never look back.

Introducing your next gruesome obsession: The Truth About Harry Quebert Affair.

Stan just dropped the first four episodes of the exclusive new murder mystery series and it’s about to become a major topic of water-cooler/group chat conversation, not just for its compelling storyline but also because it sees the return of TV legend Patrick Dempsey.

Following his shock departure from Grey’s Anatomy, the beloved actor has laid relatively low, obviously biding his time until the right role came his way and lemme tell ya, this series was defo worth him hanging up his scrubs for!

Based on the international bestselling novel by Joël Dicker, Dempsey plays the title character of the 10-part mini-series, Harry Quebert.

An acclaimed author, Quebert lives in a small town on the Maine coast, giving the series an off-the-beaten-path feel which adds to the mysterioso vibes.

Back in 1975, he meets a 15-year-old girl named Nola (played Kristine Froseth) who goes missing.

Decades later, the coldcase is reopened when the teenager’s body is uncovered on Quebert’s property, laying beside a copy of his manuscript and he becomes the prime suspect in her murder.

Have a gander at the teaser below:

In a recent interview with iNews, Dempsey shed some light on what makes his character tick.

“Harry has become a recluse. He is someone who had success early on but that affected him and he withdrew from his celebrity. Part of the story is finding out why,” Dempsey reveals.

“Early on in his life, Harry had a story he wanted to tell. After that, he felt there was nothing else for him to say. Once he’d had that level of success, he realised that it wasn’t what he thought it would be. It wasn’t bringing him satisfaction.”

Ben Schnetzer plays Marcus Goldman, a budding novelist who was mentored by Quebert. TV legends Damon Wayans Jr. (My Wife and KidsNew Girl, Happy Together) and Virginia Madsen (Frasier, Witches of East End) also star in the series.

Academy Award-winning director Jean-Jacques Annaud makes his television directorial debut, directing all 10 eps.
