WATCH: J.J. Abram’s New Series ‘Castle Rock’ Now Has A Terrifying Trailer

Oh, what’s that? You’re so overwhelmed with the amount of quality television on your list of ‘things to watch when I get the time’, that you’ve been cancelling weekend plans just to catch up?

Well, lock in 2018 as ‘the year I become a hermit once and for all’, because there’s yet another killer show dropping – this time from everyone’s fave J.J Abrams.

The show is called Castle Rock, and it’s based on Stephen King‘s very interconnected world, but while we’ll see some King characters making appearances, that’s where the connection ends. The rest is created purely for the show, which means no spoilers for King fans.

The show held a panel at NYC‘s Comic Con this week, and while they stayed mum on exactly what we could expect from the first season as a whole, they did drop a spicy little teaser trailer, and a few details to keep our interest well and truly piqued.

Basically, what we know is this. Actor Andre Holland‘s character returns to the fictional town of Castle Rock due to beef with Bill Skarsgård‘s character – who is imprisoned in Shawshank Prison.

Two things here – Bill Skarsgård? He played It in the recent remake. Is he playing It here? Unlikely, but that’s certainly an interesting crossover. He also has a creepy face, so that’s good. Secondly, Shawshank Prison – you’ve probably worked out that’s the same prison from King’s work The Shawshank Redemption.

The show is set up similarly to American Horror Story in that each season has a definite ending, and future seasons will have a completely different story and cast. This is great news for anyone (me) concerned that Abrams would pull another Lost on us and have this endless mystery going for 3400 seasons until everyone is 80 and doesn’t care anymore.

The show doesn’t have an official date for when it launches, but we do know it’ll be a Hulu Original and will start streaming sometime next year.
