GOOD BOY: Ghost Is Coming Back To Jon Snow In ‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 8

Praises unto the Game Of Thrones lot, because the goodest boy in all of the North is returning in season eight – yep Ghost is coming back to be by Jon Snow‘s side after being AWOL for all of season seven. And YES we noticed the direwolf’s absence, thank you.

Speaking with Huffington Post, the show’s visual effects supervisor Joe Bauer said that the big pup will have “a lot of screen time” in the upcoming season, and will be doing some “pretty cool things” alongside Jon Snow. What does that even mean? Attacking White Walkers? Barking at threats to the kingdom? Being able to speak so he can tell Jon that Daenerys Targaryen is totally his aunt and wow dude that’s a little bit on the nose don’t you reckon?

Apparently, Ghost was meant to show up in season seven for a hot minute, but the scene got cut meaning that we were given absolutely NO bonding time between man and his incredibly large, probably magical, wolf-dog.

Can’t wait to fuckin SOB.

Bauer said that working with actual real-life wolves probably had a lot to do with the glaring omission of Ghost in season seven, because wolves definitely do not work to the demands of humans. Wolves do as they damned well please, thank you VERY much.

The direwolves are tough because you don’t want to get them wrong, so we end up always shooting real wolves and doing a scaling trick with them, but the real wolves only behave in certain ways.

Regardless, we all know to take this – and any news about who’s showing up in Game Of Thrones – with a massive grain of salt because god knows that they could be mercilessly killed within the first two episodes. Because George R R Martin genuinely just wants to watch us all writhe with feelings and upset emotions, I swear it.

Game Of Thrones is set to return to us sometime (??) in 2019, but definitely after May because it won’t be eligible for the 2019 awards season. Please, I need it. I need the good show back in my life.
