Per the Chicago Tribune, pre-Broadway previews will kick off in the city from July 14, 2020 to August 17, 2020. It’ll play at Chicago’s James M. Nederlander Theatre so if you happen to be somewhere in the States next year you know what to do.

The iconic 2006 movie is based on the novel of the same name by Lauren Weisberger. Anne Hathaway starred as Andy – sometimes Andrea when summoned – a journo grad who lands a job at the prestigious Runway magazine, helmed by editor Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep).

The legend himself, Sir Elton John, is behind the score so expect a slew of bangers, with lyrics by Emmy Award-nominated Shaina Taub (Twelfth Night at The Public Theatre). The book is being produced by Paul Rudnick (In & Out, Jeffrey), with music supervision by Nadia DiGiallonardo (Waitress).

Direction is by Tony Award-winner Anna D. Shapiro (August: Osage County).

A full cast has yet to be locked in, lead producer Kevin McCollum told the Tribune. He also did not mention just when or if the show will make the move to Broadway in New York.

Tickets go on sale October 6, suss it all out right here.

In some related news: Shrek The Musical is headed to Australia, and I am so excited even though it looks absolutely terrifying.

The musical will open at the Sydney Lyric Theatre in January 2020 followed by stints at Her Majesty’s Theatre in Melbourne and the Lyric Theatre, QPAC in Brissy. Australian theatrical producer John Frost will lead the production.

The extravaganza will feature 19 songs.

And if you didn’t know already Marcia Hines has been cast as the Dragon, which is all I care about.
