Ben Simmons, Australia‘s biggest sporting export in yonks, seems set to become one of our biggest entertainment legends with the announcement of a sitcom based on his life before dominating the NBA.

Deadline reports NBC has secured the rights to Brotherly Love, a new show inspired by Simmons’ own family life.

Set in Philadelphia – home of Simmons’ resurgent 76ers, and the aforementioned City of Brotherly Love – the show will take notes from the Simmons clan.

Old mate’s American dad is former pro basketballer himself, while his mum is Australian, and the 2018 Rookie Of The Year grew up with a number of siblings and half-siblings. Deadline reports the show will explore identity, belonging, and the notion of family through that unique lens.

And who knows, maybe there will be a couple of Fitzroy episodes thrown in the mix.

Brotherly Love will be executive produced by former Fresh Off the Boat co-exec producer Kourtney Kang, and SpringHill Entertainment, the firm run by Maverick Carter and a little-known dude by the name of LeBron James.

Simmons and his brother Sean Tribe will act as consulting producers.

It will be penned by Kang’s brother Patrick Kang (the brotherly love motif is more than just aesthetic, it seems) and Michael Levin.

It’s hardly Simmons’ first foray into the world of Hollywood, but this one seems to have some serious potential.
