Zac Efron says he’s “totally excited, beyond excited” to be playing notorious serial killer Ted Bundy.
“Honestly, I don’t know how to explain it,” he told PEDESTRIAN.TV while in Sydney for the Australian premiere of ‘Baywatch‘. “I’m kind of scared, a little bit nervous, it’s exactly the kind of feeling I like when I’m heading into a new project.”
He was announced as the lead earlier this week in ‘Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile‘, an award-winning script that’s finally being turned into a film later this year after sitting on Hollywood‘s Black List.
It tells the story of the dysfunctional relationship between Bundy and his long-term girlfriend Liz Kloepfer (yet to be cast), and people honest-to-god lost their minds over Efron’s casting.
For those of you not up-to-date on Mass Murderers Digest, Bundy was one of the most notorious serial killers in American history, confessing to the murder of thirty young women and girls before his execution in 1989 – although the true victim count remains unknown and could be much higher.
In other words, it could not be further than his current role of cocky, disgraced Olympian-turned-lifeguard in ‘Baywatch’, the raunchy and extremely funny reboot of the classic TV series and the reason Zac & Alexandra were in town in the first place.
‘Baywatch’ hits Australian cinemas June 1.
