‘Young Charlie’ Is The Latest True-Crime Podcast To Get Major Hype

There’s a new podcast that’s stirring up conversation among the true-crime fanatics (us, you), and it centres on Charles Manson, arguably the most infamous murderer of them all.

While Manson’s body count is relatively low in terms of American killers – he was responsible for the deaths of 9 people in Hollywood, including then-8 1/2-months-pregnant actress Sharon Tate, wife of filmmaker Roman Polanski – the fact that his crimes were borne out of his cult, The Family, and the murders were incredibly brutal and involved a famous movie star has made the ‘Manson murders’ one of the most prolific crimes in history.

Wondery‘s ‘Young Charlie‘ is actually the second season of the Hollywood and Crime podcast. In an introductory teaser for the season, host Tracy Pattin explains the focus will be on Manson’s childhood and early years, promising to culminate on the night he sent his followers out to the Polanski/Tate house to murder whoever was inside. Manson led a crime-filled life long before moving to Los Angeles, so there’s plenty to cover.

In this groundbreaking 6-part series, host Tracy Pattin is joined by internationally acclaimed actor Stephen Lang (Avatar, Don’t Breathe) to take listeners on a unique journey, investigating Manson’s unlikely path from his troubled childhood in rural West Virginia to the night he sent his out his followers to commit the most infamous crime in Hollywood history.

The intro teaser is quite dramatic in a Hollywood-style way – and podcast obsessives would be well across the brilliant 12-part series within Old-Hollywood podcast ‘You Must Remember This‘ that focused on Manson, so you may feel a bit Manson-ed out.

But for anyone eternally fascinated by the captivating, yet dangerous cult leader – get onto it now so you can be ~that guy~ who was listening before everyone else was.

There’s only one episode out, so bingeing might have to wait – if you can’t and want to start it right bloomin’ now, here’s the link.
