Watch the teaser trailer for Ridley Scott’s latest offering, The Counselor, set to be one of the most talked about thrillers of the year. Aside from the attractions of Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender, Penelope Cruz and Cameron Diaz, The Counselor is Cormac McCarthy’s highly anticipated original screenplay debut.
From the trailer we can already see McCarthy’s auteurship splayed all over this; dusty, aesthetic callbacks to his stunning No Country For Old Men, terse and Stygian dialogue like, “If your definition of a friend is someone who would die for you, you don’t have any friends,” and not to mention the return of the petrifying Jarvier Bardem.
The Counselor, based around a lawyer (Fassbender) who becomes entwined in drug trafficking, will be released in Australia this November.
