Watch Out Mean Streets, Jenny From The Block Is Going To Be A Detective

NBC has announced that Jennifer Lopez (aka Jenny from the Block/J.Lo) will both executive produce and star in a new drama series, Shades of Blue.

Lopez will executive produce the show with her American Idol co-star Ryan ‘how is this guy famous again?’ Seacrest. It will be written by Adi Hasak and hopefully won’t feature Seacrest at any point in time other than the end credits. If this news is tickling you just right, don’t get too excited yet, as the show isn’t to be expected until 2015/2016.

According to Deadline, Shades of Blue is billed as a “complex police series that centres on Harlee McCord (Lopez), a single mother and detective recruited to work undercover for the FBI’s anti-corruption task force. Part of a close-knit unit known for its conviction record, Harlee has become compromised by her colleagues – all of whom pitch in to help raise her daughter – and finds herself faced with the moral dilemma of working against her cop brothers in order to redeem herself.”

So, what can we expect from a show like this? If the 1998 film Out of Sight is anything to go by, a lot of Jenny from the Block being a badass.

You can take the girl out of the streets, but you can’t take the streets out of the girl.
