The dramatic season six finale of AMC’s Mad Men has spawned this nostalgia-inducing mash up, which brings to light the unlikely genius that is The OC + Mad Men mash up.
Vulture has re-imagined the phenomenal, all-class credit sequence of Mad Men, propelling it in to the niche universe that is the Orange County—where dirty kids hailing from the Shelbyville-esque Chino are ostracized one minute, coolest wife-beater wearing dude the next; 16 year olds look suspiciously like they’re actually 28, and everyone drives SUVs. Bliss.
In the revamp of Mad Men’s credits, we see our protagonist Don Draper drop all of that Madison Avenue elegance in exchange for a Ryan Atwood inspired beach side bad boy vibe; Megan Draper trades in virtually nothing and is an extremely convincing Marissa Cooper. Geeky dream Seth Cohen is oddly absent—perhaps because Don “Ryan Atwood” Draper has absolutely no comprehension of the term, “bros before hoes”.
