Watch: Eddie Murphy’s ‘A Thousand Words’, A Film That May Not Suck

Eddie Murphy has been on a bit of a downward spiral lately, releasing films that make him a mint (Nutty Professor sequels, Norbit) but unpopular with everyone above the age of ten.

Finally, we have a trailer for a film where he makes jokes to adults again. A Thousand Words takes Murphy back to his best as fast-talking bullshit artist, the sort of which made him a household name with his standup in the ’80s. In the film, Murphy is given an ultimatum whereby as soon as a tree planted in his backyard loses all its leaves, he dies. Only problem is, the leaves are related to his words, and every time he speaks crap, he’s one foot closer to the grave. If that sounds suspiciously like Liar Liar, you clearly don’t work in Hollywood. Here’s hoping it’s the start of a Murphy renaissance; we’ve already been denied a great Oscars compere after he pulled out at the last minute.
