We are t-minus two days away from the next episode of WandaVision on Disney+, and I am absolutely thrumming with excitement. Ahead of episode 8, ray of light Teyonah Parris appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to chat about her character Monica Rambeau and her shiny new powers.

Quickie recap: in episode 7, Monica Rambeau passes through the barrier of the Hex for a third time, to track down Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen). The Hex contains super, super high levels of CMBR (cosmic microwave background radiation), which transform Monica’s cells every time she passes through the barrier.

After a third time through the Hex’s barrier, Monica emerges on the other side with superpowers.

Speaking to Jimmy, Teyonah broke down Monica’s transformation.

“Monica can absorb energy in the comics, that is what her superpower is,” Teyonah explained.

“It is yet to be revealed just exactly what it [her powers] is in the MCU.

“We get a taste of the fact that there is something that has changed and we have to stay tuned to find out exactly how that would manifest itself. But in the comics, she can absorb all energy on the electro-magnetic spectrum.”

Teyonah was pretty tight-lipped about what we can expect to see from Monica in the concluding episodes of WandaVision. She hasn’t even told her mother, who is a massive fan.

“I’m not telling her anything, I’m not going to spoil it, she would actually be very upset if I did,” Teyonah shared.

INTERESTINGLY, the WandaVision star brought up that theory/rumour about a certain aerospace engineer appearing in episode 7.

Context: ever since Monica mentioned her mysterious “aerospace engineer” contact in episode 5, fans buzzed over the possibility of a Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic) cameo in the series, with John Krasinski to play the role.

Fans thought this was going to be Marvel’s way of introducing its new Fantastic Four heroes to the MCU, since the studio is actually making a new feature film about them.

It was a huge thing on Twitter.

But the aerospace engineer turned out to be a random military person from SWORD, who brought Monica that armoured space rover.

So, Jimmy asked Teyonah if there’s a second aerospace engineer in the picture.

Teyonah coyly answered, “Anything is possible, it’s Marvel.”

HMMM.

Teyonah Parris has the most infectious smile, I swear to God.

Also, this interview just reminded me that Americans crashed Disney+ at 3am on Friday because they were so eager to watch the show. I’m so glad Australians cop it at a normal time.

WandaVision continues Friday, 7pm on Disney+.
