HELL YEAH: The ‘True Detective’ S3 With Mahershala Ali Just Got Greenlit

EXCELLENT NEWS, FOLKS. Objectively handsome man Mahershala Ali is officially coming back to your TV screens, with HBO greenlighting the third season of True Detective.

The newest season of the critically acclaimed series tells the story of “a macabre crime in the heart of the Ozarks, and a mystery that deepens over decades and plays out in three separate time periods”, according to Variety.

Oscar-winner Ali will star as Wayne Hays, a police detective from Northwest Arkansas. There’s no production start date or air date yet, but Nic Pizzolatto, who was behind the show’s monster hit first season and decidedly weaker second season, is back on board.

“Nic has written truly remarkable scripts,” said Casey Bloys, HBO’s president of programming. “With his ambitious vision and Mahershala Ali and [cinematographer] Jeremy Saulnier aboard, we are excited to embark on the next installment of True Detective.”

TBH, we’d watch anything right now if Ali’s handsome mug was in it.

We’ll keep you updated as and when this thing is likely to hit our screens.
