The first trailer for the Sam Raimi-directed The Wizard Of Oz prequel Oz: The Great and Powerful is here. The story focuses on the titular Wizard in the lead up to his ‘Great and Powerful’ years starring James Franco in the lead role. Franco is supported by a fantastic female cast of Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams, and Rachel Weisz who play witches of various cardinal points (Williams as Glinda the Good Witch – perfect casting).
The art direction, sets and costumes are all spectacular with a Tim Burton-esque feel, re-imaging the Emerald City while staying true to Victor Fleming’s iconic vision from the original 1939 film adaptation. I’m genuinely excited about this movie. It opens on March 8th, 2013. Take a look…
