Today’s ‘Parks And Recreation’ Finale Will Honour Harris Wittels

UPDATE: The final episode of Parks and Rec has just aired this afternoon Australian time. Here’s how the show paid tribute to Wittels during their closing credits:

The much-loved Parks And Recreation will end its seven-year run tonight, but as fans say goodbye to the gang from Pawnee, the show itself will pay tribute to writer, producer and occasional star Harris Wittels.
As was widely reported last week, the 30-year-old Wittels, who had spoken openly about his drug addiction and attempts to recover, was found dead of a suspected overdose.
Wittels was best known to Parks fans for playing Harris The Animal Control Guy, and Complex report that today’s series finale will feature the show’s cast and crew delivering a “We Love You, Harris” message at its conclusion.
Comedian and frequent collaborator Aziz Ansari has already paid tribute to his good friend, in a hilarious and sad remembrance that you can read here.
Earlier this month, Wittels joined Chelsea Peretti and Adam Scott on the Comedy Bang! Bang! podcast, to record the final installment of Farts And Procreation, and you can listen to the whole thing below.
Host Scott Aukerman initially said he didn’t want to post the episode, believing it would be opportunistic, but he came around in the end because, in Wittels’ words, “I just think motherfuckers wanna laugh.”
