The Kim Kardashian Game is Laughing All the Way to the Bank

A quick poll just confirmed that everyone we know stopped playing Kim Kardashian Hollywood immediately after they hit the number one spot on the A-List and were faced with the crushing existential loneliness of life at the top, but it seems like at least some of you are still tapping away on those pigeons and hydrants.
According to Complex, a quarterly earnings report from the game’s publisher revealed that it pulled in a staggering $US34.4 million in the period from July to September. 22,857,439 people – a number just under the entire population of Australia – installed the time-sucking app, and spent a total of 5.7 million hours playing it.

Kim Kardashian Hollywood is free to play, but makes money through micro transactions, in which players exchange real-life money for in-game currency. We never tried, but we assume that if you festoon your character with Kim K-approved outfits, hair and accessories, the game’s catty bachelors might treat you slightly less awfully on dates.
In October of this year, the game’s developers released an expansion, making it available on Facebook and adding Italy – the location of Kim K’s real life #dreamwedding – as a travel destination. Presumably, this accounts for some of the added revenue.
We recently spoke to Kim Kardashian herself, and she laid down some home truths about jackets.
