The Conspiracy Theories Around Lindsay Lohan’s New Accent Are Getting Wild

Yesterday we discussed the increasing speculation around Lindsay Lohan‘s mystifying new quasi-European accent, which she seemed to have developed immediately without any explanation. A reminder, in case you didn’t see the video:

Lohan herself told the Daily Mail that it’s because she’s been learning a bunch of new languages recently.

I’ve been learning different languages since I was a child,” she said. “I’m fluent in English and French can understand Russian and am learning Turkish, Italian, and Arabic.”

Because the internet cannot let sleeping dogs lie, conspiracy theories have begun to bloom as to what’s going on here. The best one? Lindsay Lohan is now a propaganda tool paid by the government of Turkey to help dismantle the current global geopolitical system. Sounds crazy? It probably is. That being said…
The core piece of evidence, according to shrewd viewers, is that Lohan repeatedly drops the line “the world is bigger than five.” That’s a favourite line from Turkish PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who says it in reference to the five permanent members of the UN Security Council – the United States, United Kingdom, France, China, and Russia.
And it’s not like Lohan doesn’t know that’s what the line means. She used that phrase as a hashtag while visiting Syrian refugees in Turkey.
She also said in an interview with Turkey’s Daily Sabah that she thinks the current structure of the UN Security Council should be reformed.
She also praised Erdogan’s effort at swatting down the coup in Turkey earlier this year in another interview (note: she doesn’t have an accent in this one).
So that’s interesting. Is Lindsay Lohan a paid Turkish agent hellbent on displacing the current geopolitical structure of the world? This punter’s opinion: I have no fucking clue at all. But people sure are saying it.
