That Supposed Easter Egg Of Spider-Man Being In ‘Iron Man 2’ Is Actually Legit

It’s not too long until the next entry into the increasingly swole Marvel Cinematic Universe swings into cinemas in the form of the reboot of the reboot of the Spider-Man movies, but before ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ arrives diehard fans/nerds are pumping a fist in triumph today with a seven-year-old theory revealed to bloody spot on.

Spidey 3.0 himself, Tom Holland, confirmed the long-held rumour that the little fella who fronts up to one of the naughty robots near the end of 2010’s ‘Iron Man 2‘ is in fact a smol version of pre-spandex Peter Parker.
Talking to Huffington Post, Holland let slip the confirmation saying, “I can confirm that, that is Peter Parker. I can confirm that as of today. I literally had a conversation with [MCU head honcho] Kevin Feige only 20 minutes ago. Maybe I’ve just done a big, old spoiler, but it’s out there now.”

“It’s cool. I like the idea that Peter Parker has been in the universe since the beginning.”
Whilst it’s probably a bit of a stretch to say Fiege and co. knew at the time that the masked little dude was Peter Parker back in 2010, when the Spidey trademark was still wholly owned by Sony, you gotta give ’em 10 points for some successful ret-conning.
Elsewhere in the interview Holland mentions that he has met at least one of his cinematic predecessors in the form of OG Spider-Man Toby Maguire, and that after witnessing Maguire’s abysmal dance moves in ‘Spider-Man 3‘, admits he would absolutely obliterate him in a dance-off.
Which hey, if that isn’t an excuse to watch Holland’s ‘Lip-Sync‘ performance and be sexually awakened once again, I don’t know what is:
‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ is out in Aus cinemas July 6.
