In the never-ending rumour cycle about Bachelorette couple Sophie Monk and Stu Laundy, Soph has taken to Instagram to clear up the fact that at least one of them isn’t true.
Over the weekend it was reported that she and Stu were hooking up all throughout the filming of The Bachelorette. These stories originated from a toast Soph gave at Stu’s low key 45th birthday dinner, a video of which found its way into the hands of the Daily Mail.
“Stu and I are very similar…. we’re not very good at rules. So the whole time through The Bachelorette, we were meant to be in lock-down, which means ‘don’t see each other’ – we saw each other more than any other couple I think… I’d leave a key downstairs in the garage, he’d just pick it up and come straight to the room… he has that arrogance, he knew he was going to win.”
Plenty of people took that as confirmation the entire series was rigged, which have been haunting the season ever since Stu entered the Bachelor mansion as one of the only dudes actually within Sophie’s desired age bracket. (Also, he’s rich, which people keep bringing up as if Sophie doesn’t have her own money??)
Sophie has now cleared up that particular rumour, clarifying that she was referring to the time period after filming, but before the season finale had aired.
“Let me clear this up,” she said on her Instagram story. “I sneakily saw him AFTER we had finished shooting the show, before the finale aired.”
And as for that “he has that arrogance, he knew he was going to win” line, Sophie said: “His attitude was like he won most of the time. I swear it was totally legit. Love Soph.”
Elsewhere, Sophie’s made no such denials of reports in Woman’s Day that she and Stu have already split up, with insiders saying that Stu “couldn’t cope with the fact no-one was really interested in him” and found it “a big blow to his ego”.
