So Uh, Looks Like That Show ‘Nashville’ Might Not Be Totally Dead After All

This opening statement comes at the risk of giving everyone a bit *too* much of a peak under the hood of digital media, but it’s a point I need to make in this case.
I don’t pretend to fully understand what works and what doesn’t work when it comes to subject material here at PEDESTRIAN.TV. It’s an utter crap shoot most of the time. We’ve got our pet subjects that we know should do well. And then others that we know should be a bust.
But honestly, not in a million years did I think a throwaway article late on a Friday afternoon about US TV networks cancelling a bunch of (let’s be real here) ho-hum shows to do any good at all. But it did. It went boonta. And there are way more people in Australia who are not just into that show ‘Nashville,’ but really fucking into that show ‘Nashville‘ than I ever thought possible.
The internet. Sometimes I simply do not get it.
But I digress: After being summarily dealt the death hand by the American ABC, there might still be life in ‘Nashville‘ yet.
The Hayden Panettiere and Connie Britton musical drama is very close to finding itself a new home for season 5, which will please viewers shitty at the show for leaving off on a giant cliffhanger (Google it).
The US CMT has emerged as the likely new home for the series, after producing company Lionsgate Television aggressively shopped the series around in steadfast pursuit of a cable-TV lifeline.
The show already licenses its other seasons in syndication to CMT, and the fact that it is literally the Country Music Television channel would be an ideal thematic home.
There is also rumours that Hulu could be involved with the deal, which would assist CMT in shouldering the show’s remarkably hefty production pricetag (music licensing does not come cheap).
A deal securing a fifth season for the show is reportedly very close to being done, and could be announced during tomorrow’s CMT Awards.
Good news, Nashville fans!
