SLAY(ED): Rihanna Signs On For Iconic ‘Psycho’ Character In ‘Bates Motel’

If you’re even been peripherally aware of Rihanna’s latest work on camera, you’ll know she’s capable of some pretty intense menace. The clips for Bitch Better Have My Money and Needed Me are chock-a-block with guns, grit, and a general sense of boss-ness usually reserved for Beyoncé.

That’s what makes news of her latest on-screen work a lil’ surprising. Instead of being the one dishing out the punishment on the Psycho-prequel TV series Bates Motel, she’s been cast as Marion Crane – aka, the role Janet Leigh cemented in pop culture history in Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 masterpiece.
In a pre-recorded message shown at San Diego Comic-Con, RiRi appeared visibly stoked on the news, and not at all concerned about portraying the doomed character before her iconic demise.
After the announcement, the show’s executive producers released a statement saying “we also heard Rihanna was a fan of the show, and we were huge fans of hers, so it was the perfect collision of creativity and fate.” (Also, the perfect collision of knives and shower curtains, but we digress.)

The fifth and final season of the show will pop up on your screens sometime in 2017. Until then, realise Rihanna is likely drawing craven powers from these violins as we speak:
