Let’s talk about Sex.com. It is without a doubt one of the most valuable domain names in existence, after all – one of the internet’s largest commercial industries is smut porn – and it’s up for grabs as of 18 March when it goes to auction. The opening bid price: a breezy $1 million.
During the credit crunch – like countless other organisations – the current owners of Sex.com, Escom LLC, were bent over and financially rammed up the jacksie forcing them to withdraw their ownership of the website. Insert your favourite “getting screwed” pun here.
(PS use of the word “Insert” was completely innocent)
Budding entrepreneurs be warned: according to auctioneer Richard Maltz the starting price is no joke. While numerous parties have already expressed interest, Maltz said: “We don’t know who’s serious and who’s not, but prospective bidders need a $1 million certified check.”
That sounds sexpensive.
