Apparently Samantha Is Being Replaced By Two POC In The SATC Revival & Finally, Some Diversity

Last week, it was announced that a 10-episode spinoff of Sex & The City titled And Just Like That was coming, including all the ladies but Kim Cattrall (a.k.a. Samantha).

Following the announcement, folks have speculated about how SATC can exist without our queen Samantha Jones, and we’ve just got wind of the show’s plan.

A production source told The Mail that rather than filling the role of Samantha, there will be two new characters – a “strong, powerful African-American woman” and another from an Asian background.

“It’s ridiculous that life in a melting-pot like New York was portrayed solely through the eyes of white women,” the insider said.

“Samantha isn’t coming back but we are introducing two new characters, strong and feisty women of colour, who will help introduce the show to a new generation of viewers and more accurately reflect the world we live in.”

The source added: “It’s time for the show to reflect the faces and lives of real women in New York in 2021.”

Returning cast members, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis, are reportedly set to earn over a million bucks per ep for the revival.

While Kim Cattrall has not yet addressed the news, she recently liked a tweet that read: “I absolutely love Sex and the City and whilst I am saddened that Samantha will not return, I applaud doing what is best for you and think this is great example of putting yourself first. Well done @KimCattrall.”

SJP assured fans that the reason why Kim Cattrall isn’t in the revival is not because they “dislike each other.”

“No. I don’t dislike her. I’ve never said that. Never would,” she wrote on Instagram. “Samantha isn’t part of this story. But she will always be a part of us. No matter where we are or what we do.”
