Redfern Now’s Final Chapter Will Be A Standalone Telemovie

The final instalment of acclaimed ABC ensemble drama series Redfern Now will be a standalone telemovie, the network has confirmed. 
Entitled “Promise Me”, the feature-length series finale will be helmed by series director, Blackfella Films founder and Bran Nue Dae writer/director Rachel Perkins from a script penned by AACTA-winning screenwriter, Steven McGregor. While Anthony Hayes, Daniella Farinacci and Genevieve Lemon will join established series players Deborah Mailman, Wayne Blair, Rarriwuy Hick, Lisa Flanagan, Kelton Pell and Kirk Page.

“The ABC is thrilled to have Redfern Now back in production. The story will resonate with the fans of the show and is ripe for our favourite characters to further develop in the telemovie format,” said Sally Riley, Head of ABC TV’s Indigenous Department. “This will bring to a close the Redfern Now franchise, but the ABC’s commitment to Indigenous content and the development of the Indigenous screen industry in the future will continue.”

Production begins tomorrow.
