Rebel Wilson has spoken publicly after being awarded a landmark $4.5 million in damages following her successful court case against Bauer Media.
In a series of tweets, she said it was “the end of a long and hard court battle” and that Justice John Dixon accepted that the damage inflicted on her “extremely high reputation” was “substantial”.
She also backed her words earlier this year that her millions in damages will go towards Australian charities and the Aussie film industry. Hell bloody yeah.
Today was the end of a long and hard court battle against Bauer Media who viciously tried to take me down with a series of false articles.

The judge said he knew that the info from anonymous paid source was false.

And that Bauer Media traded recklessly on my reputation in order to boost its own profits

Justice Dixon has awarded me a record sum and I’m extremely grateful for that. It is 4 times the Australian record.

To me though, this case wasn’t about the money.

I’m looking forward to helping out some great Australian charities and supporting the Oz film industry with the damages I’ve received.

In June this year, a jury found that a series of either articles published across Bauer Media’s supermarket mag spectrum (Woman’s Day, Woman’s Weekly, OK Magazine and New Weekly) in 2015 that painted Wilson a “serial liar” was defamatory.
Honestly though, there’s one thing we’ll always remember about this court case, and it’s that Rebel Wilson is absolutely, deadset, 100% sure that she’s related to dreams connoisseur Walt Disney himself.
