Pay Attention Meow, Super Troopers 2 Has Put The Call Out For Fan Funding

Look, real talk here. The idea of people reasonably well established within the film industry asking for fan funding to get film made is – at best – kinda contentious. It’s not that it’s technically unethical. It’s just that it doesn’t really follow the traditional method of revenue raising being an act of financial investment, and also that if Zach Braff or the Veronica Mars gang can’t get the money to make their movies through traditional channels, then there’s probably a very good reason for that.

But that being said, I am currently emptying my entire wallet, coin jar, scraping everything I can out of the bottom of the couch, selling off Tazo collections, etc to help get this off the ground.
The comedy filmmaking troupe Broken Lizard has turned to an IndieGoGo campaign to get the necessary funds together to finally make the very long-awaited sequel to cult hit Super Troopers.
Whilst the film itself has long been the subject of rumours, conjecture, and news titbits assuring us that it’s “close to happening” in the past, this is a practical guarantee that we’re finally going to see a Super Troopers 2 hit screens at some point in the not-too-distant future. Y’know, provided they hit their funding target of $2million, of course.
The campaign was unveiled today with a cheeky little video bringing all the original Vermont State Troopers back – Jay Chandrasekhar as Thorny, Paul Soter as Foster, Steve Lemme as Mac, Erik Stolhanske as Rabbit, and Kevin Heffernan as Farva – and has the added hilarious threat of, should the campaign not reach its goal, then Farva will simply not be let out of the trunk the others stuffed him into.

So far the campaign has managed to raise 66% of its goal, with over $1.3million pledged so far, so it looks increasingly likely that the film will indeed get up.
If you feel like chipping in, check out the campaign page. There’s a whole mess of stuff on offer for donators.
And while all this is happening, now’s as good a time as any to revisit one of the funniest opening scenes – and all-time greatest dick line – in comedic cinema history.

Canada, huh? Almost made it.
