How is this LEGO movie going to work exactly? Will it be like a streamlined Lego-concentrated episode of Toy Story set in a fantastical version of reality where toys come alive, or will it be like the supremely LOL, stoner-friendly production Lego Star Wars: The Padawan Menace? Will it be a live action movie starring digitally constructed life-sized Lego men a la Transformers? There are no answers to these questions right now, but it sure is cool to contemplate the possibilities – because Lego is awesome!
Earlier today it was announced that the movie will be produced in Australia by Sydney animation studio Animal Logic – the Oscar-winning team behind adorable penguin musical Happy Feet.
What will a movie adapted from primary-coloured building blocks be about? At this stage we don’t know – but it’s being written by Phil Lord and Chris Miller the team behind Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs, and what we do know is that with Lego the possibilities are endless. Except with hairstyles.
Chances of Animal Logic making a stop-motion Lego adventure are sadly unlikely.
