Oh good. ‘Game of Thrones‘ newcomer Pilou Asbæk, who plays newly crowned King of the Iron Islands Euron Greyjoy, has talked some mighty big words about what a total fucko his character is going to be this season (to use the correct terminology).
His character appeared briefly at the end of last season, mostly to murder his brother Balon Greyjoy by throwing him off a rope bridge, and then claim the salt throne over Yara. Last we saw, Yara and Theon had hotfooted it across the Narrow Sea and joined forces with Daenerys, with the implication that Euron was in pursuit.
Now Asbæk has promised his character is going to be a worse villain than even Ramsay Bolton. Y’know, worse than the dude whose entire season three story arch was about torturing his captive, and when he finally died – mauled to death by his own dogs – it almost didn’t seem good enough.
“After this season, Ramsay’s gonna look like a little kid,” Asbæk told Empire Magazine.
“The psychos I’ve encountered have so many different sides to them. So each scene I’ve done with Euron, I pick a new thing I wanna show. ‘This scene I want to be charming.’ ‘This scene I wanna be a molester.’ ‘This scene I wanna kill someone.’”
Pilou, you alright mate?
There’s two options here. One, Asbæk might be talking absolute total bollocks. Two, the ‘Game of Thrones’ lot are simply unable to allow us to enjoy the final pieces of the epic dominoes puzzle slam into one another without introducing a murderous psycho element. Either or.
