Next ‘Underbelly’ To Feature Queensland’s Crooks

Forget John Ibrahim, if you want real crime, head north of the NSW border.

That’s what Underbelly creators are banking on with the umpteenth version of the popular docu-drama, which will be set in Queensland’s sexy 1980s. Because the 1980s were sexy, right? The new series will detail the prostitution and gambling empire of some top political and police brass, which slowly unravelled to the misfortune of Premier Sir Joh Bjelke-Petersen, who lost his position as a result. Expect the darker side of the Sunshine State, based on the Fitzgerald report, named after the judge who cleaned up the mess. He’ll be played by David Wenham, who you may remember as the guy who inducted The Wiggles into the ARIA Hall of Fame last week. It’s a small world after all.
