‘Mood Indigo’ Trailer: Michel Gondry Reaches Stunning New Heights of Whimsy

Set your phasers to ‘<3 oH eM geE sTuH-hUh-NiNg <3’ and prepare your spotless minds for the first look at French (via Brooklyn) auteur Michel Gondry’s upcoming feature film Mood Indigo

Starring ingenue darling Audrey Tautou and French leading everyman Romain Duris, Mood Indigo is based on Boris Vian’s novel from 1947, L’Ecume des Jours, and tells the magical love story of Colin – a wealthy young man and inventor of an olfactory cocktail-mixing piano – who falls in love with Chloe, the incarnation of a Duke Ellington tune from which the film takes its name.
As the film’s official synopsis describes it, the film takes place in a world where you can travel around on a pink cloud or literally be swept off an ice-skating rink into a hole. Soon after their wedding, Chloe falls ill [after ingesting a flower]. She has a water lily growing in her chest [and the only way she can be treated is by being surrounded with other fresh flowers; naturally, always]. Ruined by medical expenses, Colin resorts to increasingly desperate methods to save his beloved’s life.
Mood Indigo opens April 24th en France and you can expect it to come into your world via worldwide release here not long after, followed by an endless barrage of ‘grams asking you if you’ve seen it yet (“you really must see it”) because this looks #flawless #amaze.
