Sofía Vergara is being sued by her own embryos.

Just read that sentence one more time. Bathe in it. Drink it in. Sofía Vergara is being sued by her own embryos.

Look, I don’t pretend to be an educated man – I am not a student of the law, let alone US law – but in my personal, unprofessional opinion: this is extremely fuckin’ weird.
In a bizarre battle over the ‘Modern Family‘ star’s embryos with former fiancé Nick Loeb, a right-to-live lawsuit as been filed on behalf of the embryos, which have been named as “Emma” and “Isabella” in the papers submitted to the Louisiana courts.
Loeb is attempting to regain custody of Emma and Isabella, which the couple, er, created together in 2013. The lawsuit contends that by not being born the embryos are being deprived of a trust set up to fund their healthcare and education.
Loeb is arguing that he should have sole custody of the two potential future children, while Vergara believes they should enter the world as a product of loving parents and for that reason, given current circumstances, should stay frozen indefinitely.
Loeb wrote in an op-ed earlier in the year that he reckoned he had full rights to bring the possible kids into the world:
“A woman is entitled to bring a pregnancy to term even if the man objects.

“Shouldn’t a man who is willing to take on all parental responsibilities be similarly entitled to bring his embryos to term even if the woman objects?”
Look, mate, if you agree to gestate both of them in your body somehow for nine months, I’ll consider it.
What a bloody world.
