Another day, another dollar for Sofia Vergara to roll on its edge along the sinewy musculature of Joe Mangianello’s quivering back, tracing with practiced grace every inch of his dewy, engorged lats before making her way down his spine – pausing for a beat – before going all the way to the mothafukin‘ bank where each day she deposits the coins that makes up her $37 million in annual earnings.
It’s that (alleged) bizarre, daily ritual which today has resulted in Vergara landing at the top of Forbes‘ list of the top earning TV actors who just so happen to be women.
Per Forbes, Vergara’s bankable brand of sexy, unselfconscious slapstick and adorably indecipherable Spanglish have landed her at the top of the TV money game for the third consecutive year. In addition to earning $325,000 per Modern Family episode, Vergara can also attribute her not inconsiderable wealth to a number of handsome endorsement deals, including contracts with Diet Pepsi, CoverGirl, Head & Shoulders, and AT&T.
A new Home Shopping Network fragrance, twelve years as a face of Kmart, a multi-million dollar entertainment empire called Latin World Entertainment and what I imagine is a particularly lucrative relationship with Synthroid, a prescription medication that treats hypothyroidism – hyperactive thyroids that can lead to fat stacks of cash – also don’t hurt.
Mariska Hartigay ($13 million), Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting ($11 million), Julianna Margulies ($10 million, tie), Ellen Pompeo ($10 million, tie), Cobie Smulders ($10 million, tie) and Alyson Hannigan ($9.5 million) round out the list’s top five rainmakers; Amy Poehler, Mindy Kaling, Kerry Washington, Zooey Deschanel, Courtney Cox, Clare Danes and Lena Dunham all also made between $7 million and $3.5 million on a sliding scale. Somehow You just missed the cut off this year; maybe next? Maybe not.
