Truth is stranger than fiction. Our first glimpse of Snooki-esque BFF’s Vernesa and Sophie and aspiring rapper Rif-Raf of Channel 10‘s ‘dramality’ show The Shire, set to air next Monday, substantiates this statement. In fact, the first character introductions might leave you thinking you’re watching a Chris Lilley satire a la Angry Boys or We Can Be Heroes, but sadly not so.
After wading through 1000’s of potential contestants the chosen ones have been found and they’re just as self-absorbed and bad at rapping as you thought they would be. With pearls of wisdom such as, “If you weren’t born with it, just buy it” offered by one of the girls, alongside the lyrical dexterity of “My name is Rif-Raf, have you heard? I’ll leave you physically, mentally and emotionally disturbed muthaf***a”, we can see how these fake breasted, Southern Cross tat touting young men and women blew their competitors out of the water.
