Mayhem Incoming: ‘Grand Theft Auto VI’ Is Reportedly In Production

If the pile of games you’ve yet to get through is not already big enough, here’s a future one to add: Rockstar have reportedly begun work on a sixth instalment in the ever-popular and ever-destructive Grand Theft Auto series.
The last instalment in the series, GTA V, made literally all of the money when it was released back in 2013, becoming the fastest entertainment property to gross $1 billion. As of this February, it has shipped 60 million copies.
Needless to say, anticipation for GTA VI will be pretty high, although it’s probably going to be a while before we get our hands on it. The last game began production in 2009 and took four years to complete, so at that rate, we can expect the next in around 2020.
Per reports in HypeBeast, there were originally plans to set the game in Tokyo, but rumour had it that Rockstar felt there wasn’t enough space there to accommodate GTA‘s famously broad political commentary and digs at American culture.
It is also expected that Rockstar will officially announce a sequel to the classic Red Dead Redemption at some point this year, although further details of that are unknown.
