Margot Robbie Got Her Big Break By Giving Leo DiCaprio A Surprise Slap

Margot Robbie has a number of very big projects on the go at the moment – she’s set to reprise the role of Harley Quinn in Gotham City Sirens, and she’ll portray controversial ’90s figure skater Tonya Harding in I, Tonya
In addition to this, she recently signed on to play Maid Marian in Marian, and she’s just been announced as Queen Elizabeth in the historical drama Mary Queen Of Scots. WHEW. That’s a heck of a lot of movies, and it’s not even the extent of the upcoming features on her IMDB page. Needless to say, she’s in for a busy couple of years.

Robbie was recently named one of Time Magazine‘s 100 Most Influential People, and her Wolf Of Wall Street director wrote a few words about her, including an intriguing titbit on how she was cast in the film.
After praising the Aussie star for her “unique audacity that surprises and challenges and just burns like a brand into every character she plays”, Scorsese explained how she nailed her audition for Naomi Lapaglia, saying:
“She clinched her part in The Wolf of Wall Street during our first meeting—by hauling off and giving Leonardo DiCaprio a thunderclap of a slap on the face, an improvisation that stunned us all.”
So there you go. Slapping one of the biggest movie stars in the world: not good advice in real life, but apparently a solid career move if you’re trying to land a role in a prestigious-as-balls Scorsese flick.
