Your Fave DCI Is Up Against Some Twisted Shit In The Trailer For ‘Luther’ S5

Luther

The show that makes you check your locks twice is back with its first trailer for season five and unsurprisingly, it’s dramatic as hell but what else would you expect from Luther?

The last time we saw DCI John Luther (Idris Elba) on our screens was in 2015, when season four wrapped, but the detective is still looking as good and as grizzled as ever.

In a previous teaser, posted by the BBC, Luther was getting brutally interrogated by George Cornelius (Patrick Malahide). How this ties in with this new season? We’ll just have to wait and see.

Watch, it watch it watch it.

HOW INSANE WAS THAT?

YES, Alice Morgan does appear for a split second right at the end of the trailer. Played by the brilliant Ruth Wilson, Alice is supposed to be dead but I guess this is what happens when a character dies off-screen.

So, just from the trailer alone we learn there’s a new serial killer on the loose – a person who wears a fucking terrifying clown(?) mask lit up with lights that appear to block out any chance of their entire face – and even mask – from being filmed or photographed. Said serial killer may or may not be the “patient” mentioned about a third of the way through the trailer. At the 00:36 mark, a naked man can be seen wearing the mask minus the lights.

We see the masked man again with the same psychologist at least twice so there’s definitely something going on there. We also see Cornelius in his classic getup pointing a gun as he so often does.

We’re also introduced to D.S. Catherine Halliday (Wunmi Mosaku) who’s a new recruit on the team. BBC announced this blessed news back in January when filming had just kicked off.

Anywhoo, as the trailer warns, “This will hurt” and look, no one’s doubting that.

For now, the release date is a cruel “coming soon” but we’ll keep you updated.

P.S I hate it, I hate it so much. The bus scene has forever ruined public transport for me.
