Now, usually, in the grand scheme of things, a person getting out of bed is literally the opposite of a news story, but in this case it’s Lamar Odom, and it’s the first time he’s done so since being found unconscious six days ago after ingesting a cocktail of sexual performance enhancers and cocaine, and this is bloody great news.
E! is reporting that he woke from his coma on Friday morning, and has now passed a ‘swallow test’, a promising sign of neurological function and one which allowed doctors to remove his breathing tube.
They also report that he has now been helped out of his bed for the first time, moving (with assistance) to a chair with no signs of distress to his breathing, although he still wears a mask to aid oxygen flow.
After widespread reports that Lamar woke up on Friday, gave Khloé Kardashian a thumbs up, and said “Hey, baby,” he is now apparently communicating with a thumbs up for yes, and a thumbs down for no.
In what is hopefully further proof of Lamar’s improving condition, Kim Kardashian posted this photo to Instagram with the caption: “I have faith in you. I believe in the power of prayer and positive energy! Thank you all for your prayers! Lammy- I’m so happy Kendall & I could make you smile today! God is good!”
