Kit Harington Warns That Next Year’s ‘Game Of Thrones’ Will Be A “Bloodbath”

Kit Harington, now confirmed owner of a very cute butt and also the dude who plays Jon Snow (er, Aegon Targaryen VI), has said that next season’s Game of Thrones will be an absolute bloodbath. Wonderful.

Season 7 was notable for putting characters in dicy situations and not killing them. It might have brought the us the deaths of Lady Olenna, Littlefinger and Viserion (and Thoros, we suppose, but it’s not like anyone actually cares he died), but far more seemed to pull off miraculous survivals (a.k.a. Jaime and Bronn).

It looks like next season, however, the characters will be dropping like flies.

In an interview with Deadline, Harington said that the audience should get used to Game of Thrones‘ usual hard-and-fast approach to death.

“It’s a massive exhalation, you know. This can never end the way that Thrones started. It always had to end big, and if we can do that, if we can pull it off, not with some tricks-y storytelling, but with some really kind of big, in-your-face movie stuff, which with all the characters because there are so few left.

“And the thing is, with so few characters left, they (the viewers) should get used to and get ready for next year is Thrones returning to form and killing its main characters quickly. They’re going to go, and they’re going to go fast, and I think that the payoff of our characters not being in great peril this year will be that, next year, it’s going to be a bloodbath.”

Christ-a-bloody-live. At this point, the only character I’m convinced is going to survive the end of the war is Samwell Tarly, because someone’s got to write ‘A Song of Ice and Fire‘. Everyone else is fair game, and I hate it.

*NB. Tormund and Beric are not confirmed dead, which leads me to believe they’re probably still alive. TBC.
