Fans Are Calling Out Kim Kardashian For Her ‘Beyond Tone-Deaf’ Post About The Atlanta Shooting

Kim Kardashian has been called out by fans for her response to the Atlanta shooting on March 16 where a white man murdered Asian women in a domestic terrorist hate crime.

The reality star took to Twitter and her Instagram Story to condemn the “devastating stories of the violent cases towards Asians that happens everyday.” She posted a tile that reads: “Stop Asian Hate,” along with the following words:

“It breaks my heart seeing all of these devastating stories of the violent cases towards Asians that happens everyday, particularly the elderly. Asians are human and deserve to be treated as such!!!”

Shortly after shared the tweet, loads of her followers criticised the wording of the post, particularly the part where she points out that “Asians are human” as if it’s some kind of revelation.

Have a read of some of the responses below:

This one in particular is my favourite. A Kim Kardashian follower wrote: “Asians are humans? Was there a doubt by anyone such that you had to declare that? You might want to walk that back given that you are trying to support Asians. Think first, then write.” Another follower responded to the tweet, adding that it was “beyond tone-deaf.”

On March 16, eight people, six of whom were of Asian descent, were shot to death at three separate massage parlours in Atlanta.

A 21-year-old white man was taken into custody and has since been charged with eight counts of murder and one count of aggravated assault.

According to the New York Times, the police have named the victims of the shooting at Young’s Asian Massage as Delaina Ashley Yaun, 33; Paul Andre Michels, 54; Xiaojie Tan, 49; and Daoyou Feng, 44.

The police’s response to the violent hate crime has been fucking horrendous, with Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Captain Jay Baker saying at a press conference that the domestic terrorist was “pretty much fed up and had been kind of at the end of his rope,” adding that yesterday “was a really bad day for him, and this is what he did.”

So yeah, in general, the responses to this hate crime, both from the police and from public figures, have been absolutely infuriating.

My colleague, Steff, wrote a powerful piece on the murders yesterday, I urge you to give it a read.
