John Oliver Is Headed To Australia In August

John Oliver may well be one of the most important personalities currently gracing the small screen, with his weekly news show Last Week Tonight consistently delivering high quality, informative programming whilst simultaneously changing the boundaries of what comedy news shows are capable of.

But first and foremost Oliver is a stand-up comic, and a wildly adept one at that. With a decade and a half of experience under his belt, and a swag of awards and sold out shows to his name, Oliver finally turns his attentions to our funny little island continent, and will bring his stand up show to Australia this coming August for the first time ever.
Not a stranger to our Antipodean shores, Oliver quite famously delivered a three-part segment on gun control – including interviewing former Prime Minister John Howard – in what became one of his defining bits during his tenure as a Daily Show correspondent.

Oliver will appear at two theatre dates – one each in Sydney and Melbourne – on the whistle-stop tour of our fair country. No word yet on whether more dates will be added in the coming months, but the curious gap between shows does suggest there could be something else in the works.
